Ireti Doyle is one of the most talented veteran actors working in the industry today, and watching her embody a character to the best of her abilities is always a thrill. But let’s forget the mess that was 1929, the Moses Eskor period drama revolving around the Aba Women’s Riot, which was her last film. Now she’s back in Oluseyi Asurf Amuwa’s latest project Kasanova and in the just-released teaser, she’s the most exciting thing in the footage as she shows zero tolerance for men’s bulls***.
The teaser opens in a bar where Doyle’s character overhears Wale Ojo talking down about women to his friends, and she approaches him and literally calls him an idiot. The timing explodes with a dramatic bang, and it’s accompanied by a native, war-ready sound. The plot details still hasn’t been released but the film seemingly has rom-com beats, with Doyle and Ojo ending up together.
A full trailer for Kasanova is expected to drop August 1, and the movie also stars Ayo Makun, Helen Paul, Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola. It hits cinemas September 13.
When Bernard Dayo isn’t writing about pop culture, he’s watching horror movies and reading comics and trying to pretend his addiction to Netflix isn’t a serious condition.
