The Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Olonishakin, has promised to deal decisively with militants for blowing up oil pipelines and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, clamouring for secession.
Olonisakin made the remark on Tuesday in Makurdi when he declared open the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the Chief of Army Staff Conference.
Borrowing a quote from former Head of State, retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon, the CDS said, “To keep Nigeria one is a task that must be done.’’
“We will use all that we have on any person or group that goes contrary to this. We are using this opportunity to appeal and even warn all those, who are responsible for sabotage of critical infrastructure to channel their energy to developmental issues for the nation.
“And even those, who are also clamouring for secession, I think I want to advise them to channel their effort toward the development of the nation.
“The indivisibility of this nation is sacrosanct just like the president – Muhammadu Buhari said, and we in the military are poised to ensure that is achieved,’’ he said.
Trapping IPOB during the protest will cause an injury in so called Nigeria both physically and spiritually
