Nollywood Veteran Actor, Taiwo Hassan Dies At 66

Taiwo Hassan popularly known as “Ogogo” has died at age 66, after battling with stage 4 cancer. Before the death of the popular actor, and producer, his daughter had taken to social media to implore Nigerian health institutions to help him provide health care as the family only found out about his diagnosis after he had reached stage 4 of his cancer diagnosis.
Yesterday, five days after his family denied the news of his death, it was confirmed by his daughter that the 66-year-old actor had died. Since the news of his death was announced, he has received well-wishes from his colleagues and fans.
Cassi Is Evicted From Big Brother Naija

Ezenwoke Nwosu known as “Cassi” on Big Brother Naija has been evicted from the reality show during the live evictions on the 23rd of August. Cassi entered the big brother Naija house four weeks ago, and was the 24th housemate announced to the audience.
He was nominated alongside 7 other big brother naija housemates and secured the lowest votes, making him the 4th housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother Naija house, and the fifth housemate to leave the house after the voluntary exit from Neche. There are now 19 housemates in the Big Brother Naija house competing to win this season’s prizes.
Global Girl Group Katseye Earns Its First Number 1 On Album Charts

Girl group, Katseye have earned their first ever number 1 on the billboard album charts with their latest 5-track release titled “Wild.” Katseye previously reached a high of No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 2025’s “Beautiful Chaos,” and with this project they received their biggest metric by pure album sales with 145,000. Katseye‘s latest is the fourth No. 1 album by an all-woman group this decade after Twice’s “With You-th,” NewJeans’ “2nd EP ‘Get Up’” and Blackpink’s “Born Pink.”
This feat by Katseye is also the largest pure album sales week for a female girl-group in over three years.
Kwara King Abducted As Bandits Invade Community Overnight

The king of the Isin community in Kwara state, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the Kabiyesi Onigbesi of Igbesi land has been reportedly abducted by armed bandits who attacked his community overnight. The attack reportedly happened by 11pm on Saturday, August 22nd and according to sources in the community, the king was taken away alongside other residents who were also abducted.
Although the number of abducted residents is unclear, the Kwara state police command has confirmed that the traditional ruler was taken by bandits, with 20 million Naira requested for his release and cleared up suspicions of other residents being carted away by the armed bandits.
Spiderman Remains Number 1 At Box Office With $39 Million As Insidious 6 Debuts With $25 Million

Spiderman: Brand New Day is still topping box office numbers as it collects $39 million in its fourth weekend of release. Despite the release of popular films like “Insidious 6: Out of the Further,” “Mutiny” and “Spa Weekend,” “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” has been unstoppable on the big screen with $855 million in Stateside revenues and $2.22 billion globally to date. It’s the fourth film to surpass $800 million in North America and currently ranks as the third-highest grossing domestic release ever, not far behind 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.”
As it continues to gain momentum, “Spider-Man” is reportedly tracking for to break the previous record set by “Avengers: Endgame” ($2.7 billion) and ahead of 2022’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” ($2.3 billion) and may end year as the highest-grossing film in 2026.
