“When person marry, wetin dem dey do sef?”

“I think I am getting married today…”

With these typically humorous tweets, Timi Dakolo announced his wedding to the mother of his son, Busola today. The wedding held in Ilorin, Kwara State, in a low-key church ceremony with close family and friends.

The singer of the touching ‘Cry’ and winner of the first West African Idol competition has been in a relationship with his bride for at least two years and they have a son, Alex, born in September of 2010. Repeated calls to his cell phone have not been answered, but a close friend who has co-produced music with the artiste says, “I have never seen Timi this happy; there seems to be a kind of joy that comes when a man finally makes that choice!”

Timi certainly agrees, as he leaves the many gossip columns about his relationships behind. “I have counted the cost,” he said after the ceremony. “And I have made a choice.”
