More details have come to light as to the condition in which former militant and Niger Delta activist, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, is being held.

According to the detainee’s lawyer, Festus Keyamo, his client is being kept incommunicado by Beninoise authorities.

Keyamo said further that even he had been denied access to his client thus preventing him from providing any legal advice or counsel necessary.

Leadership reports:

Keyamo, who spoke with our correspondent on phone, claimed that the Beninoise police are keeping Asari- Dokubo incommunicado and that all efforts made by him to gain access to him have yielded no fruit.

He said, “I have not been able to gain access to him since he was arrested yesterday; the Beninoise police have kept him incommunicado and I don’t know where he is being kept.

“The Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic has also been denied access to Asari-Dokubo.

“We are still studying the situation before deciding the next step to take but like I said on Tuesday, the arrest is politically motivated and a bid by unidentified individuals working with the Beninoise authorities to keep him away as 2015 approaches”, the lawyer stressed.
