Henceforth all ministerial nominees must be card-carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party else they will be denied ministerial appointments, the party’s national chairman, Bamanga Tukur has reportedly said.

Tukur was reacting to the deputy senate majority leader, Abdul Ningi’s comment, who complained that after PDP members had laboured for victory of the party in polls, nonmembers of the PDP were the ones favoured instead when it came to making ministerial selections, to the detriment of members.

As the PDP reconciliation tour party moved to the Northeast geopolitical zone of the country, Tukur was disappointed that no serving minister from the zone had attended the meeting, which took place in Bauchi but he insisted that the party was supreme, and urged members to show absolute loyalty to the party.

According to reports, Tukur then said that moving forward:

“No minister will get cleared without the party card. You must be a card-carrying member. You pay your dues, we know you, the people know you, the governor knows you and you are registered and known in your ward.”

Other governors who attended the meeting included the Governor of Bauchi Isa Yuguda, Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, the acting governor of Taraba State, Garba Umar; and the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State.
