We won’t return to work, PDP workers insist

by Azeez Adeniyi

Despite the threat issued by National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff, workers in the party’s national headquarters have refused to resume work.

Sheriff had issued an ultimatum, stating that he would relieve them of their jobs If they fail to resume.

The workers have however chosen to align with factional chairman, Ahmed Makarfi.

They said that they would continue to align with the sacked National Caretaker Committee of the party until the determination of the appeal filed at the Supreme Court.

An assistant director in one of the offices said, “We won’t go to Wadata Plaza despite the pressure and the threat to sack us. “We know we are passing through a trying time as we are being owed salaries and allowances. But there’s no guarantee that we would be paid if we resume at the party’s national headquarters.

“We are indeed losing a lot by not being there, but since we have taken the decision, we want to remain where we are now until the Supreme Court delivers the final judgment.”

It was learnt that Sheriff has however started replacing the workers.
