by Isi Esene

Gunmen yesterday attacked the Tuberculosis and Leprosy Centre at Sanubi Town in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, taking away three inmates.

The gunmen were reported to have gained entrance into the premises ordering everyone to lie face down.

They then abducted three inmates of the facility and took-off to an unknown destination. The reason for the abduction was not immediately known but sources say the gunmen are suspected ritualists.

However, due to the prompt intervention of the police, the abducted inmates were rescued at Ugolo-Orogun.

The Delta State police public relations officer, DSP Charles Muka, confirmed the incident saying based on the information made available to the police by an anonymous caller, the the hoodlums were trailed to Ugolo-Orogun and on noticing that police were closing in on them, they abandoned the victims and escaped.

He said no arrest had been made but the police command are hot on the trail of the abductors.
