WriterSpeaksPoetry: Unplanned Time

by Nneka Jethro-Iruobe

What do you do with 24 hors you hadn’t planned for?

You were meant to go to work but the doctor said, No!

You were meant to go to the office but your landlord locked you in

You had planned to be at several business meetings but a strike and protesters kept you at home

What do you do when your routine is broken

Do you pray or study?

Do you read all those books you bought long ago

Do you gist with family?

Do you just watch the movies?

What of the house chores?

Do you just sleep – I mean store some hours for when you resume work?

What do you do when time suddenly becomes available?
