On Sunday, 30th of November, over 300 prisoners escaped during the explosion that rocked the Federal Prison in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti.

A statement from the NPS spokesperson, Ope Fatinikun, disclosed that the joint efforts by the Police, other security agencies and the service have resulted in the capture of 193 inmates out of the 435 inmates that were locked up.

Fatinikun also appealed that “nearest communities and neighbouring states of Ekiti, Ondo, Edo, Osun, Kogi and Kwara states to be vigilant and watch out for suspicious individuals and report them to the nearest Prisons or Police stations”.

He also revealed that the hunt for other escapees was still ongoing.
