Baba Suwe was not tortured – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it did not at any time torture actor cum comedian Babatunde Omidina, popularly called Baba Suwe, The Punch reports.

The agency through its Head, Public Affairs, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, responded to claims made by actor Yomi Fabiyi that its operatives tortured Baba Suwe.

Fabiyi had on Wednesday on his Instagram page accused the NDLEA of torturing Baba Suwe, thereby causing a deterioration in his health.

In its reaction Ofoyeju said Baba Suwe received the “best treatment”.

“The NDLEA did not torture Baba Suwe. If he was tortured, he would have said it himself.  This is just an unfounded rumour on the social media and it should be disregarded.

“As a matter of fact, Baba Suwe was given the best treatment. We treated him with due regard to the requirement of fundamental human rights globally. He was talking to his relatives and lawyer. He was never kept in a prison for the period that he stayed here because he was virtually under our observation.”

On Thursday Baba Suwe denounced Fabiyi’s claim, saying he was perfectly healthy.
