Five men charged for gruesome murder of Igbo trader in Kano

The suspected murderers of Bridget Agbahime, a Kano-based trader, have been arraigned before a Kano State Magistrate court.

Bridget was on June 2, killed at the popular Kofar Wambai market, for allegedly blaspheming against Prophet Mohammed.

The 75-year-old trader was hacked to death by the angry mob in the presence of her husband.

The five suspects in Bridget’s murder are – Dauda Ahmad, Abdullahi Mustapha, Zubairu Abubakar, Abdullahi Abubakar and Musa Abdullahi.

They were on Friday, June 10, arraigned on a four-count charge; incitement, culpable homicide and mischief, based on sections 144, 80, 51 and 327 of the penal code.

Dauda Ahmad is believed to have led the 4 others to attack and hack Bridget to death.

Two of the suspects pleaded not guilty to the four charges, while Abdullahi Mustapha and Zubairu Abubakar said they were not present at the scene of the incident.

The Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibrin has now adjourned the case till June 28 to allow the Police conclude all necessary investigation into the matter.
