Building collapse leaves one dead, 2 injured in Lagos

Two persons have been confirmed injured and one dead on Tuesday after a building collapsed in the Agindigbi area of Lagos State.

The incident was confirmed by the Lagos state emergency management agency (LASEMA).

The agency said it received a call through the emergency toll-free line 112/767 about a sinking building in the muddy inhabitable area of Mechanic Village, Agidingbi, Ikeja.

“Three persons were discovered trapped under the mud.

“The agency’s ERT were able to rescue two people (a male and a female) while one adult female lost her life and the dead was recovered by the agency’s emergency response team.

“The agency’s ERT and men of the Nigerian police from Alausa Division, RRS and the Nigerian security and civil defence LASAMBUS, NEMA, were on ground for the recovery operation,” it said.

The General Manager of LASEMA, Michael Akindele said the government had warned that people living in flood-prone and wet lands, should vacate such areas immediately.
