BBOG protesters break through police barricade (PHOTOS)

The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement on Tuesday broke through an armed police barricade after being stopped from embarking on a planned protest.

The group was initially stopped by a group of police officers led by one Abiodun Alamatu.

The group was later allowed passage after providing acknowledged copies of the letters submitted to the police on the planned march.

However, they were stopped again by M. D. Garba, a police deputy commissioner who failed to give a reason for stalling the protest.

The group however, broke through by running in different directions and arrived at the entrance of the presidential villa.

BBOG protesters met a pro-Muhammadu Buhari group identified as ‘With Buhari We Stand’ at the gate.

The co-convener of the BBOG movement, Aisha Yesufu, while addressing journalists said it was not a privilege but a right to rescue the Chibok girls.

“If Aisha Buhari was in captivity, won’t they take action? It is not a privilege to bring back our girls; it is not right,” Yesufu said.

“The option of do-nothing, unfortunately, is what the government is doing.”

Speaking on behalf of the pro-Buhari group, Idris King said the “Chibok girls were only used as a scam”.
