You created Nigeria’s problems | Senator tells ex-NNPC bosses

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Sabi Abdullahi, has said former GMDs of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) are responsible for the non-functional state of the country’s refineries.

Sabi said the recent comment by the ex-GMDs on fuel price indicates how they have contributed to the failure of the NNPC to function properly.

“As we have all known, refineries that we have in Nigeria have not been functional because if they had been functional and if that institution had been up and doing in tandem with its peers in other countries that have similar resources, for crying out loud, all of these former GMDs, can they be said to be free of blame on how we got here? Can they?” he said.

He said none of the ex-GMDs possess the moral standpoint to advise Nigerians since they were the harbinger of the problems.

Abdullahi said, “All the problems we are having are as result of what all these people who have assembled now to be the wise men and to tell us what should be done did. As far as I am concerned, with due respect, I am not cut out to insult anybody who’s elderly but this is a matter that’s national and this is something that is in our own national interest.

“I think on this note, let me make it very clear that all of them that are speaking, they do not have the moral standpoint to even advise us on what to do because they had a hand in it (the problem) and I cannot see how you can solve a problem under the same condition that created it.”
