Immediate past governor of Kaduna Alh. Muhktar Ramalan Yero on Wednesday said he did not spend N2.1b on sweet and juice in 2014, as alleged by the state’s Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mohammad Abdullahi.
However, Yero’s Commissioner of economic planning, Mr. Madami Garba Madami, described the assertion as “unprofessional and mischievous comment”.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, Madami said “our initial intention was to ignore this because every right thinking fellow will not agree with it. But due to pressure from thousands of supporters and well wishers we wish to make it clear that.”
He said, “in all the budgets signed by H.E. Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero between 2014 and 2015, there is no any Financial Code that has to do with the above provision. Anybody who is interested to find out should visit www.mobp.kadgov.ng.”
“This is the usual way of this administration in order to distract the attention of the public from their failure to fulfill campaign promises.
“This is one of the consequences of appointing non-professional and inexperienced people in strategic positions.
“While we call on the general public to disregard this misleading information, we advise the commissioner and his principal to concentrate on their campaign promises. And stop misleading the people of our dear state,” the statement read.
