‘It’s embarrassing for Aregbesola to be begging CBN for another bailout’ – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun state has criticised the Governor, Rauf Aregbesola for allegedly begging the Central Bank of Nigeria to release fresh bailout funds.

The opposition party made the disclosure on Monday, through a statement released by the Director of Publicity of the PDP in Osun State, Diran Odeyemi.

The party said: ‘It is sad that Aregbesola, who diverted the N34.98 billion bailout meant to pay workers’ salaries and pensioners is now begging the CBN for a fresh loan’.

The state PDP accused Argbesola of using part of the previous bailout to pay contractors handling the construction of the MKO Abiola International Airport, Ido Osun, stating that using fund meant for salaries to build an airport not needed by the people shows the height of indifference to the workers’ plight.

“It is embarrassing and fraudulent for Governor Aregbesola to be begging the CBN for another bail out when no one in the state knows when, where and how he spent the N34.98bn he collected five months ago.”

The PDP also challenged Aregbesola to publish how he spent the bailout fund, while claiming that workers in the state were still being owed four months full salary and seven months of half salaries.
