Kidnappers settle for ‘N50,000 worth of fuel’ to free Bayelsa lawmaker’s father

The father of a Bayelsa lawmaker Alfred Watson who was kidnapped about three weeks ago on his way to bury his late wife has been set free after a ransom of “N50,000 for fuel” was paid.

According to SaharaReporters the octogenarian regained freedom after spending eighteen days in captivity in the creeks of Bayelsa.

Alfred Watson who confirmed his father’s release, said Chief W.G. Watson was freed after the sum of “N50,000 for fuel” was paid as ransom to the kidnappers.

The kidnappers had earlier requested for a N20m ransom from the lawmaker representing Brass Constituency 2 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
