One of these 5 will replace Audu Abubakar as Kogi governorship candidate

The All Progressives Congress is set to select a replacement for the deceased Kogi governorship candidate, Audu Abubakar.

Audu died on Sunday, November 22, a few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the November 21 governorship poll in the state inconclusive.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, had subsequently written the APC, directing it to submit the name of a replacement for the late Audu.

But the party replied saying that it would hold a fresh primary election to produce a replacement for the late Prince Audu.

Punch reports that the APC may be inclined to field the deceased’s son, Mohammed, as a replacement for his father, while Audu’s running mate, James Faleke, is another potential candidate.

Apart from Faleke and Audu, three other candidates are reportedly vying to be the replacement for Audu in the supplementary election on December 5.

These aspirants are; Yahaya Bello; a former PDP governorship aspirant, Jubrin Echocho, and Salihu Atawodi.

Atawodi contested against Audu during the APC governorship primary while Echocho defected from the PDP to the APC after failing to win the governorship ticket of the opposition party.
