Niger, Chad troops kill 38 Boko Haram fighters

An official on Friday said troops of Niger and Chad military have killed 38 Boko Haram fighters during military search operations in the Diffa region of southeast Niger this week.

Niger Defence ministry spokesperson, Colonel Moustapha Ledru said this on state television.

He said, “Two soldiers were lightly wounded in the action and on the enemy side; 38 terrorists killed.”

He said the operations took place between Monday and Wednesday around the villages of Gueskerou and Toumour in southeastern Niger.

Ledru added that cache of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the terrorists.
