Two armed robbers were yesterday killed by policemen during an exchange of gunfire around Allen Avenue in Ikeja, Lagos.

The killed armed robbers were part of a six-man gang of criminals who specialize in terrorizing customers of popular eateries in the Lagos metropolis.

Two other members of the gang were also arrested at the end of the gun battle with the police.

According to reports, four cut-to-size double barrel guns and 20 live ammunition were recovered from the robbers.

The robbers were said to be in the process of attacking a popular eatery around Ikeja when the police got a distress call and quickly positioned themselves to secure the area.

Lagos State Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ngozi Braide, confirmed the report saying two other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds.

She urged members of public to be on alert and always report suspicious movement around their areas to the police.

  1. Thank God for the safety of the lives of the workers and their customers. Thumb up for Nigerian police.
