A 25-year-old man has been arrested by the police in Ogun state for defiling a 3-year-old girl. The suspect, Kayode Akanni, of Pedepo Village in Ayetoro, is alleged to have lured the toddler into his room, after which he defiled her, damaging her private parts in the process.
Spokesperson for the police, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the alleged child-rapist could have gotten away with the crime, had the injuries not been noticed by the girl’s parents.
He said after noticing the wound on her private parts, the parents reported the matter to the police and the suspect was subsequently arrested.
He said, “During police interrogation, it was discovered that the suspect tricked the young and innocent baby into his room by telling her to bring to him a bunch of keys outside the room.”
“It was after that he had unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl. The suspect has confessed to the crime, while the victim has been taken to hospital for treatment.”
Meanwhile, Adejobi said the commissioner of police, Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, has directed that the case be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran, Abeokuta for thorough investigation.
