A police officer, Victor Afam Banor, has been accused of collecting salaries from 15 different police commands.

In total, Banor received N20 million meant for salaries of officers of Enugu State Police Command.

The Nigerian Police Force told a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, that the officer, who has been dismissed, had been earning remuneration from 15 police commands.

Banor was dismissed while serving at Umunede Police Division in Delta State for allegedly stealing an exhibit vehicle in a criminal case under investigation.

He would, however, escape from detention and resurface at Enugu Command with a falsified signature, claiming to still be a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

The police Inspector General, in the counter-affidavit opposing an application by Banor to be freed from police detention by the court, urged the court not to release him since investigation into his alleged crime was still ongoing.

Presiding judge, Justice Aneke adjourned the case till 21 November for ruling on Banor’s bail application.
