Buhari admits that old age will limit his performance

President Muhammadu Buhari, who will be 73 on December 17, has admitted that his age would limit the things he can do as the President of the country.

Buhari said he would have loved being a President when he was at a much younger age.

The President said this while speaking with Nigerians resident in South Africa on Monday, June 15, after taking part in the 25th assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in Johannesburg.

He was quoted by Punch newspapers, to have said: “I wish I became Head of State when I was a governor, just a few years as a young man. Now at 72, there is a limit to what I can do.”

Buhari, who who was a military governor at 33 and Head of State at 40, however, assured that his administration would make a difference.

He added that he relentlessly pursued the presidency due to his love for the country, adding that God has given him another opportunity to reorganise the affairs of the nation.
