The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, December 25; Wednesday, December 26 and Tuesday January 1, 2019 as public holidays to mark the Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year celebrations.
Announcing the holidays on behalf of the Federal Government, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, enjoined Christian faithful and Nigerians to use the period in praying for Nigeria’s betterment and growth, as he called on the citizens to strengthen their resolve to maintain peace and unity before, during and after the general elections, in the spirit of the season.
In the statement signed by the Director of Press of the ministry, Mohammed Mang, the minister also urged all Nigerians, “both at home and abroad, to support the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in its determination and sustained efforts towards a peaceful, united and virile nation.”
He wished Nigerians happy Christmas and New Year celebrations.
