Ali Modu Sheriff just ate humble pie

Ali Modu Sheriff, the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has extended an apology to stakeholders of the party who might be offended over statements made by his aides but credited to him.

At a media briefing in Jalingo on Sunday, May 15, Sheriff explained that it was not in his character to go at loggerheads with respected elders of the party and that he did not authorise any of his aides to give a reaction to the matters not pleasant to the party elders.

Sheriff further said, “as a well cultured and astute politician, I would never make any comment that would ridicule the party,” while noting that aggrieved members of the party had the right to complain about matters affecting the growth of the party.

The former governor urged all discontented members of the party to come together and join hands with the current leadership to see to it that the party is rebuilt and gain the confidence of Nigerians even as he pointed out that as the main opposition in the country, th PDP could not afford a divided house.

He assured every concerned member that the jostle for the juicy presidency position in 2019 general elections had started in full swing.

He said “under our leadership and the support and encouragement of stakeholders and supporters, PDP will definitely bounce back in 2019.”

Did you notice that he, by himself, called himself an ‘astute politician’?
