Protesters besieged the building where human remains and shackled victims were discovered at the weekend in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Several people were reportedly injured when residents were prevented from gaining access into the premises where the bodies were uncovered.
There are indications that many victims have been used for ritual purposes with rotting bodies littering the building now dubbed the ‘House of horror’.
Reports say several severely malnourished people were also found wandering in the bush near the building, and that at least 15 others were found shackled inside.
“We want to rescue our people who are still underground and crying for help. But the police are saying no and we are angry,” one rioter said.
The scene of the said crime was visited by the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi today and he assured the agitating crowd present that the perpetrators of the crime will be found and punished.
“Those behind this dastardly act will be punished by God. We too will punish them when we get them,” he said.
Police said on Sunday that six people, including five security guards allegedly armed with guns, bows and arrows, were arrested at the scene.
