Ex-Air Force chief, Amosu’s wife returns looted N381m

Omolara Amosu, the wife of the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosu, has returned N381 million loot to the federal government through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Amosu and over 10 other air force officers are being investigated by the anti-graft agency for the fraudulent procurement of equipment and diversion of arms funds.

Punch Newspapers reports that the money, which was recovered in three tranches: N180m, N101m and N100m, was traced from the account of the Nigeria Air Force to the bank accounts of a company where Amosu’s wife serves as a director and is signatory to the accounts.

An EFCC source was quoted to have said: “We recovered N381m from Amosu’s wife, Omolara. Initially, we recovered N180m from her account before another N101m and then N100m. These were monies transferred from Air Force accounts.”

“They (Air Force officers) sent the money to an account where their wives have interests or are signatories without doing anything.”

Meanwhile, the EFCC source also revealed that more properties had been seized from the immediate past Chief of Accounts and Budgeting of NAF, Air Vice Marshal J.B. Adigun.

The source was quoted to have said: “Adigun is still here with us. We recovered a quarry which he owns. In the quarry there were pieces of equipment worth about $600,000. They have all been impounded and investigations are ongoing.”
