Appeal Court sentences Kebbi Accountant-General to 70 years in prison

An Appeal Court in Kebbi has sentenced the state’s Accountant-General, Mohammed Dakingari to 70 years in prison.

Dakingari was found guilty of N1.6bn fraud.

A Kebbi State High Court had earlier discharged & acquitted Dakingari, but Court of Appeal on Friday overruled it & upheld the appeal of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The court had also acquitted Dakingari on charges of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence preferred against him and one other by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Dakingari was charged alongside Musa Yusuf, Managing Director, Beal Construction Nigeria Limited, a company owned by Dakingari.
