‘The area is now cool and calm’ | Army claims victory over Boko Haram in Kareto

Troops of the Nigerian Army ‘successfully repelled’ the attack launched on Monday morning, by Boko Haram insurgents in Kareto, Borno state.

Colonel Sani Usman, spokesperson of the army, had said: “Please be informed that our troops are currently engaged in fierce battle with Boko Haram terrorists. The troops have been battling the insurgents since early hours of today.”

In another statement released Monday evening, the army spokesperson said: “The Nigerian troops have successfully repelled an attack by Boko Haram terrorists who attempted an incursion into 113 Battalion at Kareto Northern Borno State.”

“The timely response of the troops involved air cover as more reinforcement have been deployed. The area is now cool and calm.”
