Audu Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress has defeated incumbent governor, Idris Wada, of the Peoples Democratic Party, to win the Kogi governorship election.

Out of the votes collated from the 21 local governments in the state, Audu got a total of 231, 863 votes while Wada polled 199, 514 votes.

Audu Abubakar won in 16 local government areas while Idris Wada won the election in 5 local government areas of the state.
