#BBNaija: Nini becomes the first victim of fan outrage, but does she really deserve the hate?

As it is with the Big Brother Naija show every season, Sunday nights, are always really eventful. From the evictions, to the revelations, Sundays are a day of closure and clarity, and last night the Housemates got their first dose of these.

During last night’s Sunday night Live Eviction show, Ebuka made two revelations to the Housemates, albeit, these revelations were already pronounced to the audience. The first revelation was who the wildcards were, and the Housemates were generally shocked to learn they were Maria and Pere. The second revelation he made to the Housemates was that they were boring, and these too for some reason left the Housemates in disbelieve.. That’s right Ebuka who is not often afraid to go there, went there. He blatantly told them that they were boring, and they needed to up their game.

Moments later, it would seem that Ebuka’s words really struck a cord. The Housemates, right after the Live Eviction show began taking the advice they got seriously. In the dinning area; Pere Maria, Nini, Sammie and Saga, got to talking, and they decided to make a conscious effort in spicing things up. Outside the House, in the patio, White Money, Niyi, Angel, and a few other housemates discussed the same topic. Their quick solution was a game of truth or dare.

It did take a moment before the Housemates gathered to the room to play but once they did, some of them got into it, and some were a bit iffy, non existent really. As you would expect from a game of truth or dare, there was a lot of raunchy dares. Some of these dares premeditated, but most were simply random.

Angel was asked to kiss Saga. Nini was asked to give Boma a lap dance. Maria chose to kiss Cross. White Money dry humped Maria, Yousef kissed Liqourose. Liqourose kissed Emmanuel, and so on. While it was a bit interesting, it still, for the most part, felt random. But, asides the randomness, what really had fans talking was Nini’s refusal to fully participate. She turned down some dares, and this didn’t boat well with fans.

It’s honestly is hard to blame her though, the game seemed forced, and it’s honestly hard to get over the fact that Ebuka had to say what he said before they decided to do this. Was Nini wrong for not being a team player, yes and no.

She was wrong because she should have known what being a Big Brother contestant entails and what fans expect of a rated 18 reality TV show. She should also not have seen so judgmental of what the other Housemates chose to do. Her disposition was off putting, and it felt like she placed herself above such ‘petty games.’

On the other hand, its hard to say she was wrong because, the game honestly seemed forced and uncomfortable, and it can’t be easy decision for everyone to just get intimate with someone they barely know. Regardless, the customer is always right, and Nini today may just have rubbed her customers off the wrong way.
