At a campaign event on Tuesday, July 12, the world watched with bated breath as Bernie Sanders finally endorsed Hillary Clinton for the presidency at a New Hampshire rally.
“Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nominating process, and I congratulate her for that. She will be the Democratic nominee for president and I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next president of the United States,” Sanders said.
“I have come here to make it as clear as possible as to why I am endorsing Hillary Clinton,” Sanders relays, “and why she must become our next president.”
Sanders went on to heavily criticise Donald Trump and praise Clinton on her record of approving a public option for health insurance, acknowledgement of the country’s economic challenges and taking a stand on climate change.
This decision brings forth a unification of the Democratic party and a shared objective in overcoming the Republicans and their presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
Though he may not agree on certain ideals that Clinton bases her campaign upon, they must unite to defeat the enemy in Trump.
