In respect to Biafra agitations, South-East stakeholders arrived at this decision on Sunday

In order to quell the continued protest by pro-Biafra agitators and Nnamdi Kanu apologists- political leaders, Igbo stakeholders and state governors in the South-East, held a meeting on Sunday, November 22.

At the end of the meeting, which was held in Enugu, it was decided by the representatives of South-East stakeholders, that the way forward is dialogue.

The general consensus at the meeting was the setting up of a committee to dialogue with the Federal Government over the ongoing agitation for Biafra.

Those present at the meeting when the decision was arrived at, include: South-East elders, members of the National Assembly, some former governors, and others.

In a communique issued after the meeting, it said the proposed committee would dialogue with the two major pro-Biafra groups; the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), and the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB).

The two groups have in the past few weeks, held series of protests in several states of the South East, and some parts of the South South.

Their protests have mainly been two-fold: the agitation for secession and the creation of a Biafra state, as well as the immediate release of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu, director of pirate radio station, Radio Biafra, was arrested last month in Lagos, by the Department of State Security, and has been kept in detention ever since.
