Here are the top five stories to monitor today.

1) List of looters

The Presidency has failed to make good its promise to release names of persons who stole Nigeria’s assets and others from whom stolen funds were recovered.

However, presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Sunday, declared that the list will be released by the Ministry of Information.

 

2) Army moves towards ending Niger Delta militancy

The Nigerian Army, over the weekend, deployed its troops to the Niger Delta region with the singular objective of crushing the rise of militancy in the region.

 

3) Tompolo’s heart-felt letter to Niger Delta Avengers

Former militant warlord, Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, has written a desperate letter to new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers asking the group to refrain from blowing up oil installations in the oil rich region.

 

4) N900 million, frozen accounts and Jonathan’s cousin

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly found a whooping N900 million in the accounts of Waripamowei Dudafa, a cousin of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Waripamowei had earlier denied that he had any money in his accounts.

 

5) Ministers defend President Buhari’s one year in office

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, and the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Sunday, defended the policies of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The ministers spoke on a Channel’s Television program – where they posited that the federal government will fulfill its electoral promises.

Many Nigerians do not agree with the ministers.
