Bizarre: Gov. Okorocha announces 17 days holiday for Imo workers

Gov. Rochas Okorocha is the master of the dramatic and he proved it once again on Wednesday when he approved 17 work-free days for civil servants in Imo state.

From December 20 to January 5, 2014, Imo workers would not be required to any work whatsoever but to simply enjoy themselves with Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The governor stated this while hosting workers to a dinner tagged “My Worker, My Worker” at the Heroes Square, along Imo Concorde Hotel Road, Owerri. He advised them to utilise the period to their advantage.

That was not the only freebie announced by the governor. He also said that the restoration of “Overtime allowance” to junior workers in the state civil service with take effect from January, 2014.

The governor, who had announced N12,000 gift to each of the workers in the state, and N10,000 to each federal civil servant, also disclosed that the state government would honour the two past Head of Service, who retired during his time, Evans Uzokwe and Mrs. Nkechi Onumajulu, for their hard work.
