Yesterday, several thousand Nigerians gathered on the Bolanle Austen Peters Youtube channel to relive, Moremi the Musical, shown for the first time outside of the Terra Kulture theatre. Excellently edited to cut out all the stage changes, Moremi the Musical suprisingly held up to scrutiny with stand out performances from Femi Branch, Lala Akindoju and Moshood Attah. This is part of BAP’s new initiative to break the physical limitations of traditional theatre and reach a global audience with her Stay At Home and Watch With Me, initiative, her own contributions to keeping families entertained during this era of social distancing.

24 hours after Moremi the Musical premiered, it has already garnered an impressive 32,000 views, and will continue to climb as more people discover the magic that is the BAP productions play cycles.

This is the second play that Bolanle Austen Peters has premiered via their Youtube channel, last weekend they premiered their bestseller, Fela and the Kalakuta Queens, a high octane retelling of the Fela Anikulapo-Kuti story through the eyes of the women who served as his wife, his confidantes, collaborators and back up dancers. That thousands of people get to communally enjoy the experience of seeing a BAP play for the first time is priceless.
