An earthquake of magnitude 7.3 struck early on Tuesday, local time, off the Japanese coast, some 67 km northeast of Iwaki, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The quake struck off about at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday near Fukushima, where an earthquake in 2011 caused a nuclear plant to have a meltdown.

A tsunami wave of 1-3 meters (3-10 feet) is possible, according to the agency.
