Court dismisses Nnamdi Kanu’s bail application

The bail application filed by leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and three others was dismissed on Thursday by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, The Punch reports.

Those arraigned alongside Kanu are Mr. Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi.

Kanu was presented before Justice Binta Nyako by the Federal Government for offences including treasonable felony and an act preparatory to act of terrorism.

Justice Nyako, while ruling on the applications said most of the charges preferred against them were “ordinarily not bailable”.

Justice Nyako, who said even though she was hearing the case for the first time, nothing had changed, hence her refusal to grant them bail, as she suggested an accelerated hearing of the case.
