Budget-Padding Tracker: Jibrin returned to tweet this evening…

It appears the budget padding crisis in the House of Representatives won’t vanish anytime soon, as the major parties involved keep engaging in ceaseless war of words.

Earlier today, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Yakubu Dogara who has been accused of padding the budget to the tune of over N40bn, took to Twitter to make clarifications on some of his statements which he said were misconstrued by some sections of the media.

Dogara in a series of tweets said he never implied that he cannot be probed or investigated over the budget padding allegations.

He explained that he is not above the law and would never mention that no security agency can investigate him.

Dogara further assured Nigerians that no monies were misappropriated, stolen or lost in the budget saga.

Well, the former Chairman House Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin who made the allegations has responded on Twitter some moments ago.

Jibrin in a manner of sarcasm asked Nigerians to thank “the corrupt Speaker Dogara for finally apologising to Nigerians for the multiple lies he has shamelessly been dishing out.”

He urged the Speaker to reconvene the House and resign alongside 3 other principal officers accused of involvement in the padding.

Jibrin also made fresh allegations that Dogara was involved in a multi-billion naira car contract scam while he was the Chairman of the House Committee on Services.
