Buhari appoints Ben Akabueze DG of Budget Office

Ben Akabueze, the Special Adviser on Planning to President Muhammadu Buhari has been appointed as the new Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation.

Akabueze’s appointment was announced on Thursday, by the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina.

The new DG of Budget Office takes over from Tijani Mohammed Abdullahi.

Abdullahi will now serve as Special Adviser to the President on Planning as well as the Minister of Budget and National Planning.

Akabueze and Abdullahi were in February 2015 appointed as Special Adviser on Planning to the Minister of Budget and National Planning and Director-General in charge of the Budget Office of the Federation, respectively.

According to the Presidency, their redeployment is aimed at repositioning the Ministry to effectively deliver on its core mandate.
