A former adviser to ex-President Shehu Shagari and a foremost northern politician, Junaid Mohammed, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to mete out military actions, like those used on Boko Haram terrorist, on Niger Delta Avengers.
Mohammed stated this during an interview with Vanguard where he noted that it was wrong for the President to use military action on Boko Haram insurgents while trying to appease militants, noting that both groups were terrorists.
He stated that any attempt by President Buhari to negotiate with the militants might result in a civil war.
“Why is Buhari tackling Boko Haram with the military might and going behind to negotiate with Niger Delta militants?” he asked.
“If Buhari is not careful with NDA he will plunge the country into another civil war because he does not have the mandate of the law to negotiate with terrorists.”
“No forward-looking nation negotiates with terrorists. And I should say that if he does not have the political will to deal with the militants, he should step aside. Governance does not have room for destroyers.”
