12 ministers of state, 24 ministers: This is what Buhari’s cabinet looks like

President Muhammadu Buhari, renowned for his shrewdness, has lived up to his name, by slashing the number of federal ministries to 24.

Since the rumour hit the grapevine months ago that President Buhari may possibly reduce the number of ministries, several figures have been bandied around, in a bid to ascertain the level of reduction.

From 19 to 25 to 30, everyone tried to conjecture and ballpark the actual number of ministries that’d be left standing after the inevitable reduction.

The pruning of Federal ministries was part of the recommendation of the Alhaji Ahmed Joda transition committee.

The transition committee, had in June, submitted to the President, an 800-page report, which was blamed for the delay in making political appointments.

On Wednesday, during the inauguration of the ministers at the Presidential Villa, it became apparent that Buhari stuck to the recommendation of the transition committee.

Consequently, Buhari’s cabinet consists of 24 ministers (himself inclusive) and 12 ministers of states.
