by James Sambo

There was a collective sigh of relief from residents of Shaffa Town, Hawul Local Government Area of Borno as seven suspected Boko Haram members were arrested.

The suspects who have reportedly terrorized residents for a long time were arrested by the police on Monday following a tip off from concerned members of the community.

Shaffa is about 4 kilometres drive from Azare, the headquarters of Hawul, which is south and 200 kilometres away from Maiduguri, the state capital.

According to Mallam Zakariya Shizhawu, a prominent resident of Shaffa “We thank God seven Boko Haram suspected operatives who have been terrorizing our community were arrested yesterday (Monday) by security agents following a tip off.”

The Boko Haram Islamic sect has killed many people in the North-east of Nigeria since 2009.
