“That wasn’t a song, that was an anthem“, Simon Cowell proudly commented after America’s Got Talent finalist, Kechi Okwuchi delivered her powerful rendition of Estelle’s 2015 single, Conqueror.
Kechi Okwuchi, who many like to easily describe as a plane crash survivor, has proven time and again that her talent should be bigger than her story, as far as this competition is concerned. She confirmed this herself recently when she said it might be a bit unfair to the other talents on the show if she wins because people vote for her out of pity.
It had become a “thing” among a fraction of American viewers who expressed that she was undeserving of her place especially in the finals after her Dunkin Save last week. This comment from the quarterfinals attests to this:
Since her first appearance on the show, Kechi has consistently wowed all four judges with each performance and once got Mel B in tears. Yes, she is one of the two survivors of the Sosoliso plane crash that killed 107 others in 2005. Yes, she has had more than 100 surgeries since the crash. Yes, she’s been through the toughest of times. BUT…
Kechi Okwuchi is an amazing singer and as far America’s Got Talent is concerned, it’s the quality of her talent that has got her this far but will she win the $1 million grand prize?
