A Federal High Court in Abuja has declared the suspension of Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume as void.
Ndume was suspended from the upper chamber for calling for an investigation into the certificate scandal of Senator Dino Melaye.
He also asked the Senate to probe the alleged importation of SUVs by the Senate President Bukola Saraki.
The court ruling:
In a court ruling on Friday, Justice Babatunde Quadri ordered Ndume’s reinstatement.
He ordered Saraki and the Senate to ensure prompt payment of Ndume’s salaries and allowances.
He added that it was unlawful in the part of the Senate leadership to have suspended Ndume in the first place.
