Court remands Murtala Nyako, son for money laundering

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that a former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, and his son be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

They were arraigned in the court for alleged money laundering on Wednesday following their arrest by EFCC on Tuesday.

According to Punch, the accused are to be remanded in custody till Friday when their bail application will be heard following an application by the ex-governor’s counsel, Kanu Agabi, SAN, pleading for time to familiarize with the charges.

Nyako and his son, Abdul-aziz, were arraigned for money laundering charges before Justice Evoh Chukwu of a Federal High Court in Abuja.

Nyako and his son are contending against 37 counts of money laundering.They pleaded not guilty to 17 of the charges.
