In recent time, we’ve had western dance moves like stanky leg, dougie, twerking and even more recently the nae nae, sweep the nation.

However, a new dance move known as the Dab, is taking over the country after Olamide and DJ Enimoney of YBNL popularised it through their collaborative effort titled Oya Dab.

Ever since its release of last week, Nigerians have flooded social media with pictures and videos, where they dabbed to the song.

The hip hop dance, which originated from Atlanta, United States, is one in which the dancer simultaneously drops the head while raising an arm and briefly resting the face inside the elbow.

Possible originators of the dance move have been named to include Skippa Da Flippa , Peewee Longway, Rich The Kid and Migos.

The dab however, didn’t become a trend until American football players and European soccer players started using it as a celebration dance.

Notable among them was Juventus player, Paul Pogba, who dabbed after he scored for his side against Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A.

Manchester United player Jesse Lingard, also followed suit after he scored for his club against Newcastle United in the English premier league.
