Dasukigate: Abati wants to refund N5m to EFCC

Reuben Abati, former Spokesperson to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has said he can only afford to refund N5 million out of the N50m he recieved from ex-NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

According to Premium Times, Abati has offered to refund N5 million.

Abati was detained after he reported to the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Abati had reportedly admitted to have received N50 million from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki but said he disbursed the funds to to media practitioners across the country as part of the 2015 campaign activities.

The former presidential aide was granted administrative bail but had been unable to meet the terms which included presenting a senior federal civil servant —from the level of a director— as surety.

An EFCC source said, “He may be released in the coming days despite his refusal to fully cooperate with us.”
