Here are the designers to lookout for at NSFDW 2017

The biggest fashion event platform in Nigeria that aims at promoting young and emerging fashion designers is set to go big as we celebrate our 5th anniversary of Nigerian Student Fashion & Design Week. NSFDWeek also showcases current collections from established designers who are role models to these emerging designers. We are going big this year 2017, with our models, designers and even a new VENUE.

This year’s edition is scheduled to hold August 19th & 20th at Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island Lagos. For its 5th anniversary, NSFDW5 will feature 25 designers taking over the runway. We bring to you some designers to look out for at this edition

Threads by Nessa

Postgraduate student from University of Ibadan, Vanessa Onize started “Threads by Nessa” in 2013 but before then her love for fashion started as a child, she would gather old silk scarves and materials using needle & thread to make little dresses for her doll.

She studied fashion designs videos from fashion blogger (Claire Sulmers of fashion bomb daily), international fashion designer (Tracy Resse) and celebrity make-up artist (Sam fine).

Threads by Nessa will debut its collection “Urban Fantasy”. She heard about NSFDW on Instagram and decided to put aside her fears and apply.

Pinkies Stitches

The creative designer behind the brand is Okiemute Egerega, a graduate of College of Education Warri and OSC Fashion Institute in Lagos. She started making dresses as a kid practicing with her mother’s sewing tools.

Pinkies Stitches will be showcasing her collection “Superwoman” at the Nigerian Student Fashion and Design Week.

Aumoh Atelier

Aumoh heard about Nigerian Student Fashion and Design Week on Facebook and decided it was a good platform to showcase her designs. She studied fashion illustration with OSC Fashion Institute in Lagos and designed with Institito di morda burgo. She is also a graduate of University of Lagos and holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from a UK University.

Her expectations from NSFDW, “Hoping to get business exposure on the platform, also connect with other designers and get more exposure”, she will be showcasing her collection “Aurora”. Her pieces will show how creative this designer can be.

Styleshe Couture

After getting her OND from Polytechnic Oko, she decided that the banking sector wasn’t the place for her and went ahead to study fashion design for a year. She describes her style as a unique and will be showcasing her collection called “Nature’s Queen”.

Styleshe Couture will be strutting on NSFDW’s runway for the first time and believes it will create more exposure and share her creativity with the world.

Carl Andrews

The impeccable fashionista and law undergraduate started his fashion line by creating a fashion collection for his fellow law colleagues in University of Lagos. He will be showing his collection “The Twelve Apostles” at NSFDW runway, which would not be his first runway show. His designs have been featured on various fashion platforms.
